Ingrid Pollard (1953 -)

Ingrid Pollard is a Guyanese-born photographer, media artist and researcher. She is a graduate of the London College of Printing and Derby University. 

She is known for her photography, documentary work and writings adressing race, identity, and the English landscape. She was a central figure in the 1980s Black British Arts Movement with her groundbreaking series Pastoral Interlude from 1987.

Her work is held in institutions such Tate Britain, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Trust, and the Government Art Collection.

The University of St Andrews Libraries and Museums supported and collaborated with Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) in the exhibition Soft Impressions (December 2024 to March 2025). Pollard’s work which is now part of the Boswell Collection was originally exhibited in that exhibition.
