Peter Doig

Peter Doig, born in 1959 in Edinburgh, is one of the world’s leading contemporary artists, renowned for his highly imaginative drawings and oils, he draws inspiration from his upbringing in Canada, Scotland, and Trinidad. Using photographs, clippings, the moving image, and montages as reference, Doig constructs dream-like scenes that capture the viewer’s imagination.

In 2007, a painting by Doig sold at Sotheby’s for $11.3 million, which was a record sale for living European artist. His profile, style, status, and saleability has only increased year upon year.

Doig was nominated for the Tuner Prize in 1994, and has resided in Trinidad since 2002.
